Description:
SCARCE "Transitional" 1st Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver Peacemaker

.32-20 with Hand-Tooled Belt and Turquoise Buckle

Here we present an antique 1st Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver, made in 1897 at the Colt factory in Hartford, Connecticut. The Colt Single Action Army is a worldwide icon of the United States of America and the Western Frontier. Wielded by both the worst of men and the best, the famous Single Action Army is also well-known as the Peacemaker. These revolvers saw history as it unfolded from coast to coast, on the range and fighting Native Americans in the West.

This piece is known as a "transitional model" due to its being made in the brief period between 1896 and 1900. During this period, Colt transitioned their famous revolver in two ways: 1) they introduced the spring-loaded base-pin release which you see on this gun, and 2) they were in the process of phasing out their iron "black powder" frames in favor of steel to handle the higher pressures of smokeless powder. These are quite scarce due to their very short window of manufacture and are very collectible as a result. Especially note that these "transitional" guns fall on either side of the ATF's cut-off "antique" date of 1899, and this example falls into the category of antique.

This specimen is in very good plus condition. The grips are the original hard rubber and maintain sharp checkering and clear rampant colts. 70% of the bluing remains on the cylinder and about 10% remains on some protected areas of the gun. The casehardened frame still shows some of the case colors. Markings are clear. Bore is fine. The action is excellent. This is a very nice, clean gun. A very worthy collector’s item and investment.

Comes with a very nice, hand-tooled belt with a distinct buckle. Buckle features a bird, inlaid with turquoise.

This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 7.5 inches in length.

Caliber: .32-20

Bore is in excellent condition and shiny. The firearm is in excellent working order.

Overall condition as seen in photos.

Here is a great chance to invest in a very nice Colt.
