Serial number "136XXX". 100% original Colt brushed blue finish. With two original magazines in same unused condition both with "Cal. 380/ Colt" in large lttrs on bases. Serial number falls within range of three orders shipped between Oct. 1944 - June 1945. Generals Eisenhauer and Patton had like pistols(blue as well in rarer .380acp) shipped in the same block of 1500 overall .380's. Eisenhauer's pistol was serial number "135171" and Patton's "135170". "U.S. Property" cleanly struck under ejection port on right side of frame. Ordnance wheel stamp behind sight on frame on left slide. "64" stamp on right trigger bow with "VP" and "4" opposite. Correct checkered walnut grip panels with no signs of carry. Accompanying Kraft box with matching serial number wax penciled on bottom excellent from the period. Also with group is original 1944 date Colt manual of operation. The General Officer's pistol in .380acp were rarer than those issued in .32acp because Colt ran out of .380s. A total of 1,500 .380's as opposed to 2,500 in .32acp. Further research may garner the recipient General or Colonel. Records do exist.
