Manufactured in 1881, this early example of Colt's first large caliber double action revolver is fitted with a 7 1/2 inch barrel and chambered for the 44-40 Winchester cartridge. It retains its origial acid etched panel barrel marking and overall the revolver is in excellent original condition. The gun retains about 80% of its original bright blue finish, the bore is near perfect, and the action is crsip and functions perfectly. It was shipped to Hartley and Graham in New York, circa 1881, with special order checkered, walnut grips, which are numbered to the gun and are very attractive. Overall, this is a 100% original antique double action Colt revolver in the most desirable caliber.
