Winchesters Model of 1886 lever Action Sporting Rifle "First Model" .45-70gov't. The serial number of this early 1st Model is 1925X placing the date of manufacture in 1888. Overall condition is very good to fine with the Barrel and Magazine retaining approx. 60% of the original untouched factory rust blue toning to a very nice even patina. The bore is near perfect with strong rifling and shine from muzzle to breech. The bore will rate a 9.5 on a 1 to 10 scale, a very well cared for early 1886. The Case hardened Receiver has faint Case Colors in protected areas, mostly silvered out. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Wood to metal fit is perfect with normal handling marks, no damage observed. This is a very well cared for First Model in the most popular caliber.
