Description:
NSN, .50 CF, 29 3/4" (33" to the wrist tang) barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is one of only 424 rifles produced, and uses an 1866 2nd Model Allin conversion. The metal has an overall pewter gray patina with thin freckling along the exposed metal, most noticeably at the breech end of the barrel. The breechblock has a smooth, plum-brown patina with “MODEL / 1866" marking on top, and the 1867 dated lock and hammer have traces of original color case-hardening remaining. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and small surface blemishes throughout the reapplied military oil finish, and the “ESA" cartouche is faint, but still visible. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a fine example of a rare, and highly desirable Model 1867 Cadet Breechloading Rifle; it would make a handsome addition to any collection.
