Description:
Full custom Model 70 Winchester in .300 Winchester Magnum built on a Pre-War Model 70 action with metal work by the late Larry Brace of Eugene, Oregon and stocked by the late Charlie Coffin of Odessa, Texas. Both of these fine gunmakers ACGG members.  24" sightless barrel. Action with jeweled bolt, 4-panel tear drop bolt knob checkering, and custom checkered bolt release. Burgess bottom metal with straddle floorplate with trigger bow release. Topped with a Leupold  VX-3 3.5x10x40 scope with duplex and two small bullet drop crosshatches in sculpted Conetrol bases and rings. Stocked in American Classic style in a fine piece of feathercrotch Turkish Walnut. Shadow line cheekpiece with Fleur de Lis and ribbon checkering pattern. Ebony forend tip. Steel pistol grip cap and two screw inletted sling  swivel studs with the rear on a pedestal.  13 5/8" LOP to a checkered steel buttplate with engraved screws.    9lb 3oz as scoped.  This is a quality piece by two of the great all time gunmakers. Mr. Brace was a founding member of the ACGG. Mr. Coffin was a flight engineer in WWII and flew 6 missions over Normandy. His checkering and inletting is second to none. The original/previous owner of this gun was a good friend of Mr. Coffin and also from Odessa. This gun was built for him. This piece has great eye appeal. Bluing remains at 99%   Stock finish at 98% and checkering at 99%  It has been carefully hunted.
