Description:
Serial #L3314, .303 British, 25" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a very small amount of freckling within the grooves. This is a 1917 dated rifle that has matching numbers on the nosecap, and retains 90-95% of an armory re-applied blue finish that has silvered lightly on the exposed edges and projections, as well as on the bearing surfaces of the non-matching, but correct bolt. The bolt handle has some light freckling and pinprick pitting on the knob and there is a slight plum-brown patina on the unnumbered magazine. Small import stamps are present on the right side of the receiver ring. A clear “C (Broad Arrow)" Canadian property stamp is present on the top of the receiver ring, as is a large “DP" (Drill Purpose) stamp on the barrel knox form. The walnut stock, non-matching forend, and handguards have been armory refinished to fine condition with only minor handling marks under the nice, added military oil finish. Further “C (Broad Arrow)" and “DP" stamps are present on the right side of the buttstock. Drill Purpose rifles were removed from service issue, and were retained for training use only. This is a handsome example that rates very good-fine condition overall, and has unusual Canadian property markings. FFL or C&
