FACTORY ENGRAVED Antique Remington-Smoot Revolver
Scarce, Early without Barrel Rib & Rarer Factory Engraving!
Here we present an antique Engraved Remington-Smoot New Model No. 3 Revolver in .38 Rimfire, made circa 1878 in Ilion, New York. The years of production were 1878 to 1888. This revolver was designed with the armed public in mind, being pocket-sized and holding 5 shots of .38 Rimfire. This revolver was part of a line of small handguns that was contemporaneous with Colt’s “New Line” revolver.
This one features an early serial number and the early style octagonal barrel without the additional flat rib on top. It is a medium to small frame revolver with an open loading gate and an ejector rod, which many other revolvers in this size-class lacked. Finally, this revolver features handsome factory engraving and comes to you in excellent condition.
The overall condition is excellent. The nickel finish is virtually complete. The markings and engravings are clear. The grips are in fine shape. The bore is clean with strong rifling. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a rare Remington that could not be improved upon!
