With Excellent Vintage Brauer Brothers Holster!
Here we present an Iver Johnson Double Action Top Break .38 S&W Revolver, made circa the early 20th Century in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, with a Brauer Brothers of St. Louis Leather Holster. Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The company continued to operate until 1993. This revolver was designed to be small and concealable for self-defense.
This revolver is chambered for 5 shots of .38 S&W with a 5-inch barrel. The grips are an ivory colored version of the trademarked owl hard rubber grips that are not often seen. The action works in both double and single action. The top of the barrel is marked “IVER JOHNSON ARMS & CYCLE WORKS/FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A.” The holster was made in St. Louis circa 1903 and features brass hardware. It is stitched with an open muzzle end. A strap snaps across the rear part of the trigger guard for retention.
The overall condition is very fine. The original nickel, blue, and case colored finish remains virtually complete. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The trademarked grips are in fine shape. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent. The holster likewise is in very fine condition.
