1870s Antique M1850 Staff & Field Officer Sword
With Beautifully Etched Blade
Here we present an antique US Model 1850 Army Staff & Field Officer’s Sword, manufactured circa the 1870s and Marked “V. Pascuzzi/Pittsburgh, PA”. The Model 1850 Army Staff and Field Officer’s Sword was adopted in 1850. The guard is cast with beautiful scrolls and “US”. The blade is etched with various patriotic regalia including a federal eagle, “US”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, and various implements of war. Scabbard is iron and brass. V. Pascuzzi of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was an outfitter specializing in such regalia as well as uniforms and the like in the late-19th Century. This period was characterized by the Indian Wars with the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars close behind.
The overall condition is very fine. The blade is 33-3/4 inches in length and the overall length is 39 inches. The brass hilt is in very good condition, the grip is wrapped in wire and shark skin.
