This rifle has markings indicating it was produced by the Nagoya Arsenal which was the only arsenal that produced the Type 2 during World War 2. The assembly number is #285 and is properly marked on all matching assembly parts including both front & rear blocks, the rear sight base, and on the take-down screw. The full serial number is present as usual on the left side of the receiver. The last three digits of the serial number (222) are present on the bolt, barrel, extractor, firing pin and bayonet lug. The rear sight is graduated from 300 to 1500 meters and has aa wings. The mum on the receiver is fully intact. The bore is in very excellent condition and appears to be chrome lined. The receiver, rear sight, magazine plate, butt plate, barrel, and trigger guard assembly all have a light to medium amount of pitting present. Given the external condition it is all the more surprising how good the bore is as well as having an intact mum. The rifle is definitely in shootable condition and would be very accurate. This piece also comes with an extremely nice Type 30 bayonet, still with a large amount of cosmoline on it, made at the Kokura Arsenal, complete with scabbard and leather frog - the bayonet is numbered but as the bayonets and rifles were numbered separately from each other it is of course non-matching. This is an early Type 30 bayonet as it has the hooked quillion guard and the scabbard is metal which indicates pre-1942.
