Description:
This is a very nice all-original and all-matching Nazi Police marked Mauser HSC, identified by the "Eagle L" stamped on the left side of the trigger guard at rear.  It is offered for sale just as it came to us, with an extra magazine and in a WW2 German holster for a Mauser 1910.  There were 3 variations of these German Police Mauser HSC's made during World War 2, this is a "2nd Variation" gun.  The 2nd Variation guns fall roughly within the 788,450 to 938,075 serial range and are identified by the lack of lanyard loop, a plain sight channel (not matted like earlier production), three heavy horizontal lines stamped in the slide legend, and a plain or stamped magazine bottom.  The finish on these guns was a high polish salt blue thru serial number 790,000 at which point they went to a "military blue".  There were only about 10,000 of these 2nd Variation Eagle L Mauser HSC's made total and they are quite scarce on today's market.  This particular pistol is serial number 857,602 and is a known gun, listed by serial number in Jan Still's Axis Pistols book.  As you can see from the pictures, it is in very good all-original condition with lots of attractive original factory blue finish remaining.  The gun shows only some very minor handling marks and some very minor finish wear, mainly on the grip straps and a touch on the high edges.  All of the numbered parts match including the slide, frame, and barrel, and the un-numbered parts are 100% original.  The bore in this Nazi Police HSC is minty and bright, with sharp rifling and no pitting or visible imperfections.  The original checkered Walnut grips on this Mauser are in very good condition overall, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  The checkering shows some light wear but is still well defined throughout the panels.  All of the controls on this Mauser are in perfect working order and the slide to frame fit is excellent.  When worked by hand the slide works smoothly and goes into battery with authority.  We have no doubt that this pistol would perform just as well today as it did the day it left the factory during the war.  This Eagle L HSC comes with 2 factory magazines, one with a machined smooth bottom and one with a stamped bottom.  Both magazines are in perfect working order and good shape except for two small holes drilled into the stamped bottom mag, likely from a finger extension someone added to it at some point along the way.  As mentioned before, this Mauser comes in a World War 2 vintage Model 1910 holster.  While it isn't a perfect fit, it does hold the extra mag and fits the gun well enough to allow the top flap to fasten securely.  If you have been looking for a nice investment-quality Nazi Police pistol for your collection this "Eagle L" Mauser HSC would be an excellent choice.
