RARE Antique E.L. & J. Dickinson DERINGER Pistol
CIVIL WAR Era .32 Caliber Rimfire Hideout Pistol!
Here we present a rare antique E.L. & J. Dickinson Deringer Single Shot Pistol. Fewer than 1,600 were produced between 1863 & 1865. This is a unique design in that the chamber of the pistol pivots to the right, then uses a very neat rack & pinion system to extract the spent brass. This pistol was probably fairly labor intensive and expensive to produce for a .32 caliber single shot pistol when there were .32 caliber cartridge revolvers, not to mention pepperboxes and other repeaters of all sorts to compete with. Nevertheless, we bring you a true rarity in this little Dickenson.
The top of the barrel has a fully legible “E.L. & J. Dickinson. Springfield. Mass.” factory marking. The frame is brass with silver plate, along with rosewood grips.
The overall condition is fine. Strong traces of original blue are present with a gray-brown patina on the iron parts. The brass frame retains 65% of the silver plate. The markings are clear. The rosewood grips are in very good shape. The bore is dim with good rifling. The action is excellent. This is the only one of these rare little oddity Deringers that we see on the market right now and it isn’t likely to last long!
