Description:
The Colt Third Model Derringer was made from 1875 to 1912, with approximately 45,000 manufactured. The single shot, side pivoting pistols were fitted with a 2 1/2 inch blue finished barrel, varnished walnut grips, spur trigger, were built on a brass frame which was either nickel or silver plated, and were chambered in either .41 RF or .41 CF. This 1875 vintage (serial number 3946) Colt Derringer is as described and has a silver plated frame and is chambered in .41 RF. The gun is in excellent original condition, with the barrel retaining 70% of its original finish, with most loss due to flaking, and the frame retains approximately 85% of its original silver plate, with 60% having turned a black due to oxidation. The grips, which serial number to the gun, retain all of their original finish, with only a few very minor handling marks. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, though there are a few areas of spotting. The action is tight and works perfectly.
