GORGEOUS Foster Presentation Sword Dated 1891
Beautifully Decorated with Inscription
Here we present a Presentation Officer’s Sword, made by G.F. Foster Son & Co. of Chicago, Illinois, in 1891. This sword was made for military officer staff, primarily used as a dress piece. This one has been acid etched on the iron scabbard in gothic letters, “PRESENTED TO COL. D.A. NELSEN/AS A TOKEN OF ESTEEM FROM/THE BOYS OF HIS OLD CO. F 3D REGT/___ 1891”. The rest of the scabbard is highly decorated with high relief figures, like an eagle and a fully suited knight. The blade is acid etched on both sides with an eagle and “US”. This is a stunner of a sword with a history yet to be fully divulged!
Overall condition is fine. The only defect is a slightly bent tip.
