Description:
Complete old Zischang Target Rifle on a Marlin Ballard Action.  Patent marks are Ballards 1861 and Marlins 1875 (pictured).  Barrel Length is 29&1/4" Octagon with a Good Bright Bore.
Wood is solid with one crack on the left side of the buttstock running from the point of the checkering behind the receiver about 2" long.  Doesn't appear to run into the checkering (pictured).  Checkering is very sharp on the entire butt and forend. Wood has various minor handling marks but nothing major.  Original Finish is Very Good except, no case coloring left on receiver.  Barrel retains a good 85-90% Original Blue with several areas of build-up on the barrel flats.  Looks more like scale from oil and the beginning of some rust but doesn't appear to go through the blue and into the metal.  Took as much as I dared off with LSA Oil and light Steel Wool.  The edges of some of the flats show some wear through the bluing but again, nothing major.  Front sight has no apperatures but know the proper ones are not hard to locate.  Built in Syracuse, NY, about 90 miles from where I now live and grew up. Don"t see a lot of these and are quite rare as I understand.  The new owner may want to reblue the barrel but I wouldn't do it.  Barrel Blue under the forend is all of 98%.  Pretty nice condition for a gun of it's age.  Thanks for Looking.
