The ‘Eagle Head” sword was popularized during the American Revolutionary War and was one of the signature weapons of the young United States through the War of 1812 and into the 1830s. This one appears to have seen some use, judging by the nicks on the blade. This sword features a bone grip and a shield-form langet with an American eagle design. The blade is 32 inches and the overall length is 37 inches. The blade has a smooth, dark patina. The blade etchings are still visible. There is a little play in the hilt. Here is a very handsome, early American saber that would look fantastic on display! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Overall condition as seen in photos.
