Description:
SOLD...Original military configuration with ALL MATCHING NUMBERS, this is one of 3552 (3.16% of the sistemas) with the scarce roll mark of the NAVY WAR and is well documented and described in Charles Clawson's and Alex Gherovici's books. DGFM FMAP Sistema COLT Mod 1927, 1911A1 .45 ACP 5" barrel, showing the marking on the side of “REPUBLICA ARGENTINA, MARINA de GUERRA, sist colt cal 11.25mm Mod 1927 ”. It was made on June 30th, 1959 on Colt machinery under Colt license and supervision under contract in Rosario, Argentina.
From Charles Clawson's book and the article in MAGNUM Magazine (Argentine magazine Aug 2003) 3552 sistema Colt were supplied to the NAVY department of WAR, out of the 112500 sistema Colt that Domingo Matheu produced.
Condition: Extremely attractive example in original military configuration. MATCHING NUMBERS on FRAME, SLIDE AND BARREL (unnumbered but CORRECT magazine). NO RUST NO PITTING observed; very clean. Crisp and well define markings shown in pictures. Appears to have the original arsenal dark rich bluing finish, with minimal imperfections, with little loss/edge wear/scratches from holster carrying mainly forward the slide; usual handling marks and scratches on frame, looking like it was carry and handle more than shot. Very discreet tiny import marked on frame. Original sights in place.Bore has MIRROR shine, and it's bright with very good rifling, appearing not to be shot much. Correct checkered grips with NO CRACKS, NO CHIPS look like a replacement. Tight action; mechanically fine. Magazine with some loss of finish, drops freely and looks in good working order.
A beautiful NAVY Sistema COLT mod 1927 in excellent condition with ALL MATCHING NUMBERS and a sharp, RARE marked " REPUBLICA ARGENTINA, MARINA DE GUERRA"; ONLY 3552 MADE (3.16% of the sistemas). This pistol will make a fine addition to your collection!
