Description:
Winchesters Model of 1894 Sporting Rifle with factory 26 inch Octagon Barrel .38-55wcf. The serial number of this example is 115XX placing date of manufacture n 1894 a First year Production Rifle. Not known if Ordered with the sights, the Mid-Range Vernier Tang Sight is in excellent condition and appears to match the condition of the rifle? The Lyman Combination front sight is also in excellent condition and matching the wear of the rifles finish. Overall condition is fine with this Antique 1894 retaining 80-85% of the original factory untouched finish toning to a very nice even patina. The bore is very good with strong rifling from breech to muzzle and will rate an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. There is a small rub mark on the upper tang behind the hammer, easily remedied. Wood to metal fit is perfect and sits proud at most contacts with the tangs. Great little First year 1894.
