Description:
General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1930, 12 Gauge, 8lbs 4oz, Chokes M/F
Serial Number: 457423

According to Walt Snyder's book, "The Ithaca Gun Company; From the Beginning" there were only 45,000 Ithaca NID (New Ithaca Doubles) produced from 1926 to 1946.  But when analyzing the production of Grade 4 and above guns, there were only 560 Grade 4 guns produced in all gauges, with about 300 or less 12ga. guns.  This gun, sn457423 built in 1930, is a FULLY OPTIONED NID (New Ithaca Double as the advertising of the day dubbed it) AND IS ONE OF A TINY HANDFUL OF GUNS SO PRODUCED.   A gorgeous gun, all original factory condition and parts, as shipped, retaining lots of condition, with very rare and desirable 32" vent rib barrels, the long, trap-style beavertail forend, SST, ejectors, double ivory beads, Ithaca Sunburst pad… this is a true investment quality shotgun with CONDITION, RARITY, AND DESIRABLE OPTIONS.   And of course, it has that fully figured Ithaca walnut with the fancy flor-de-lis checkering that sets the Ithaca guns apart from all others.  This is a great gun!  The gun has not been altered in anyway regarding configuration or features.  Choked M/F with 99% factory blue, jeweling still fully intact on barrel flats, bores are mirrors, wood is sound with excellent checkering, clear and beautiful engraving, 65% fading factory case color, SST, EJ, great dimensions...this gun has it all.  This is also a “VFI CERTIFIED GUN”, having been stripped to its smallest part, cleaned in the Ultrasonic cleaner, all parts inspected for soundness and function, lubricated properly and then reassembled and now carrying a 90-day mechanical warranty (a $275 service in our shop).  What a fantastic clays gun, or bird gun for turkey, waterfowl, pheasants, and even pass shooting doves!    Ithaca guns have just started to be noticed in the American vintage double world, and as such are a tremendous value and investment opportunity.  A Grade 4 (CHE) Parker in this condition and configuration would cost 3 times our asking price on this gun!  Guns like this will increase in value much more than a similar Parker or Fox, as those makers have already seen high gains.  Thanks for looking, and don't miss out on this rare Ithaca!
