Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1947, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 13oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number: FWS21524

There are quite a few L.C. Smith Field Grade 20ga. guns for sale, but few like this gun.  Production numbers show 31,000 Field Grade 20ga. guns from 1913 to 1949, most without any options.  Only 3,700 of them had ejectors, so 20 ga. ejector Field Grades are not common.  For those who want high factory original condition and ejectors, this may be your gun.  Built in 1947, snFWS21524 came from the factory with a single sighting plane high rib (this feature really works, making the sight picture like an over/under, with no barrels present in your peripheral vision).  The 90% case color is vivid and bold, definitively factory original, as is the 95% barrel blue and 99% trigger guard blue.  The desirable 28” barrels are choked M/F with factory 2 ¾” chambers.  Even the wood is factory original finish with just a few handling marks present.  Elsies from this time period have great modern stock dimensions, and this one has a full length stock measuring 14 1/8” to the buttplate.  Most of the guns offered for sale have a pad on the butt, and pads take away value from the gun.  This gun has seen little use and very good care in the 72 years it has been around.  The mechanics are excellent as well, and this is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, the action and forend iron having been stripped to their smallest part, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, all parts inspected for function and integrity, properly lubricated and reassembled, complete with a 90-day mechanical warranty.  Anyone who does a search on the internet will realize that an Elsie in this condition, in 20ga. with ejectors, is a very hard to find gun.  We all know that condition is the most important part of investment quality firearms, so you can buy and use this gun for upland game and clay target games and it will appreciate in value as you enjoy its use.  Thanks for looking!

Common requests are: -stock bending to suit your particular requirements -addition of any specified butt pad to increase length of pull -alteration of chokes to suit your shooting preferences -lengthening of chambers and forcing cones -darkening stock color with penetrating stains -restoring any part of the gun including rust blue, charcoal blue, bone and charcoal case color, wood restoration and checkering recuts. If you like one our guns but it needs "tweaked", let us know and we can quote you a time and price. Some enthusiasts like the guns "as found" and others want them "just so". We often list guns as found and let the particular buyer choose how they want their gun to fit or look.
