Antique 1850s EUROPEAN SxS DOUBLE BARREL Pistol
GERMAN Proofed Double Barrel Self Defense Pistol
Here we present an antique European Double Barrel Percussion Pocket Pistol, made circa 1850. This would have been intended as a self-defense gun. The grip is solid walnut. The frame and barrel are both marked with a “6”, along with various German proof marks. In a day when the single shot pistol was the standard, this side by side percussion pistol would have been a very handy self-defense weapon to have around, having two shots to fire off instead of one! This pistol is small enough to be worn on one’s belt or carried in a coat pocket.
The overall condition is good. The iron parts have a dark brown patina. The markings are clear. The grip is in good shape. The smooth bores are dark. The actions remain strong. Here is a very simple, even crude pistol from the 19th Century!
