Description:
This is a spectacular all-original and all-matching French Military Model 1892 Lebel Revolver.  The Model 1892 Lebel revolver is considered one of the finest French military revolvers ever fielded; it was reliable, accurate, and very well-made.  The double-action / single-action revolver has a 6-shot cylinder that swings open to the right, is chambered in the 8mm Lebel cartridge, and features a very innovative design that allowed quick and easy access to the internals of the gun.  To open the Lebel revolver up, you just turn one screw at the rear of the right side and the sideplate swings open on the left, allowing for the internals to be cleaned thoroughly and any broken or worn parts replaced with ease (picture provided of the gun opened up).  This particular example was made in 1921 and is excellent all-original condition overall.  The original factory blue finish is very attractive and shows only some minor high-edge wear and handling marks, with no eyesores or bad spots.  The original factory "straw" finish on the trigger, hammer, and cylinder release still has a lot of yellow color showing, which is usually the first thing to fade on these guns.  The barrel and cylinder have perfect bores.  The bore in the barrel is bright and clean with sharp rifling throughout and with no visible pitting or imperfections.  The cylinder bores appear like-new.  The original checkered Walnut grips are in excellent condition as well, showing only some very minor handling marks and no cracks, chips, major wear, or repairs.  Both grips are perfectly fit to the revolver and tight to the gun with no wiggle.  The action on this Lebel is perfectly "in time" and locks up tight with no wiggle.  The action is smooth and precise, whether worked in single or double action, or fast or slow.  There is no doubt that this French Military revolver would function just as well today as the day it left the factory 98 years ago.  If you have been looking for a "collector grade" French Model 1892 Lebel revolver, here is your chance to get a beautiful all-original and un-molested example.
