Description:
Serial #126744, .455 Webley, 7 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few traces of freckling within the grooves at the breech. This is a handsome, matching number revolver that retains 90% plus of the original brushed blue finish with just some very mild silvering along the raised edges and projections, as well as a single area of mild silvering near the muzzle on the right side of the barrel. The topstrap is marked “'WS' TARGET MODEL" on the left side with the Webley & Scott “winged bullet" on the frame, the cylinder has some scattered small spots of mild freckling between the flutes, and the barrel assembly has the fairly rare lightening cuts below the barrel on both sides. The checkered walnut grips are in about very good condition with numerous handling marks, surface blemishes, and some moderate flattening of the points. The lock-up is solid and tight and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in its original, somewhat worn leather traveling case with A.G. Parker & Co. label and seven compartment, green baize-lined interior which contains: a period pewter oil bottle, brass cleaning rod (missing handle), and bore brush. Also included in the case is a Webley & Scott rimfire conversion unit chambered in .22 Long which is in-the-white, and in excellent condition, with an excellent, bright bore. This is very nice example of a rare, and highly desirable WS Target Model with case, a rare sub-caliber conversion unit, and would make a welcome addition to any collection of fine British firearms.
