Description:
This is a Marlin model 27-S with the improved safety added in 1911, after the original variation model 27 run from 1909-1911. This is a take down slide action rifle chambered for the 25-20 center fire cartridge. This gun is in very good condition overall, with a couple modifications that are convenient, but deter from an all original specimen. There has been sling lugs added, and 1 extra hole to the top of the receiver to facilitate the mounting of a scope rail, that I will include with the purchase. The bore of the 24" barrel is very good, and the gun has the correct and original sight package. All script and other markings are nice and crisp, with only minor blems, and a little carry loss to the otherwise excellent blue metal finish. The stocks appear to be all original, in excellent condition with no cracks and only very minor marks to the finish. The wood to metal fit is excellent everywhere, with the correct steel crecent butt plate intact. The action works as it should, and the takedown feature works correctly. This is a nice little shootable rifle with readily accessible ammunition.
