Description:
This Bowie knife blade looks to have been cleaned at some time sad to say.
McElroy  and Johnston were the only two confederate arms makers in Macon Georgia.
McElroy made swords Bowie knives and pikes the two worked together at times sharing and making very sumular weapons. McElroy echoed units and name on there Bowie knife blades, this blade shows parshal markings on the cleaned blade. It is one of the early large bladed bowies.
The handle looks like a Johnston but it has the classic seams on the handle as seen on many foot the cured Confederate makers. This has been authenticated by an Antique Road Show past expert.
This Bowie came out of a collection in Lakeland Fla.
