Description:
The gas-operated Remington Model 1100 is probably the most well-known and revered American-made semi-auto shotgun ever made.  Introduced in 1963, the Remington Model 1100 Field quickly earned a reputation for being very well-made, reliable, and soft-shooting.  The 1100 Field model remianed in production until 1988, when it was discontinued in favor of numerous other Model 1100-based variations that remain in production even today.  This Model 1100 Field features a gloss blue factory finish on the metal parts, a 26" inch ventilated rib barrel choked "Improved Cylinder", and a press-checkered American Walnut stock set with factory installed white spacers and a black pistol-grip cap and buttplate.  It is an all-original gun in excellent condition overall that has not been modified or altered in any way.  The factory gloss-blue finish rates 97 to 98%, with the only deductions coming from some tiny handing marks and just a touch of high-edge wear in a few spots.  The bore in this shotgun is minty and mirror-bright, with no visible pitting, dents, bulges or imperfections of any kind.  The original stock set is also in excellent condition, with both the forearm and buttstock completely free of any cracks, chips, major damage, or repairs.  There are only a few tiny handling/storage marks in the wood, visible only under close inspection.  All of the stock hardware is perfectly fit to the stock and tight to the wood.  The Remington-branded buttplate is in excellent condition, while the only real flaw of the pistol grip cap is that it is missing the factory white diamond insert.  The length of pull on this Remington is 14" inches to the end of the buttplate.  The action on this Model 1100 is slick and precise; and it slams home into battery with authority when released.   All of the controls are in perfect working order on this shotgun, it should function just as well today as the day it left the factory.  Judging by the condition of the exterior blue finish on the shell lifter, this 1100 has been fired very little during it's life.  That blue finish is the first place you will see finish wear, as the process of loading shells into the magazine will put a wear stripe down the middle of it.  As you can see from the pictures provided of the bottom of the receiver, there is only an extremely faint wear mark on the shell lifter.  This is consistent with the condition of the internal parts, which show no mechanical wear and are extremely clean.  If you have been looking for an attractive and clean Remington Model 1100 Field for your collection, this 1973 manufacture example would be an excellent choice.  It should be a great hunting/sporting clays/skeet gun, as well as a great long-term investment.
