Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1910, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14" rear trigger, DAH 2", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: 6133E

In the world of fine vintage American double shotguns, the pre-1913 L.C. Smith guns are highly regarded, with elegantly sculpted frames, extreme attention to detail, finely executed game scene and scroll engraving, and the only successful American sidelock from the Golden Era of gun making.  The pre-1913 Elsie's (the guns with number grades like 2E, 3E, 5E, etc. vs. named models like Ideal Grade, Specialty Grade, etc.) were better fit and more finely finished than the guns that came after 1912.  This RARE GRADE 3E 20GA., sn6133E made in 1910, is one of only 143 Grade 3E's made in 20ga., with only 38 of those wearing 30" fluid steel barrels.  Better yet, she was used very little and cared for very well, with 97% factory barrel blue, mirror bores, 85% factory case color and trigger guard blue, clear sharp engraving, superb wood to metal fit, strong checkering, perfect screws, and all original parts to the gun.  Weighing 6 1/2lbs. with the long, graceful 30" barrels and balanced just forward of the hinge pin, the gun is dynamic in its handling characteristics, feeling like a 6lb. gun.  Shipped from the factory with the very desirable and infrequently encountered English style grip, single selective trigger, double ivory beads, and ejectors, she is one racy looking double gun with the long barrels and straight grip.  The mechanics and condition are superb with strong, well timed ejectors and barrels tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, top lever well right of center.  THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN, MEANING THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON HAS BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART AND CLEANED IN THE ULTRASONIC CLEANER, INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY OF ALL PARTS, PROPERLY LUBRICATED, AND REASSEMBLED.  VFI CERTIFIED guns come with a 90 day shooting warranty. The stock dimensions are awesome as well with 14" LOP from a mid-position Single trigger (would be 14 1/2" LOP if the gun had a front trigger), 2" drop at heel, 1 1/2" drop at comb, and 1/8" cast off.  There is some flaking of the varnish on the stock as the only noticeable flaw and we can restore the wood to perfection for $450 including pointing up the checkering and have it done within 6 weeks of purchase.  Having all of the most desirable characteristics, ie ejectors, sst, English stock, 30" barrels, high condition, and low production makes this a very good buy and a sound investment that will continue to grow in value as you enjoy its use.  Thanks for looking!
