Description:
SOLD Pending Funds / British Ketland Flintlock Holster Pistol, cal. 69, with 8" octagon barrel and oxidized bore. The metal surfaces have toned to a dark brown patina showing spots of very light pitting and oxidation staining scattered about and a few screw heads show slot wear. The top barrel flat is marked "LONDON" with clear proofs along the left flat and the lockplate markings are clear with "T / KETLAND / & Co" in the center. The lock features a bridled roller frizzen with waterproof pan. The brass hardware has toned to a dark ocher patina and includes a single ramrod thimble with tailpipe, triggerguard with nice pineapple finial and simple lock screw escutcheons. The smooth walnut stock remains in good condition as lightly cleaned and refinished, the newer finish masking a number of extensive but professionally repaired cracks and chips along the wrist, lockplate and tip along with some scattered lighter dings. A simple hickory ramrod is present. Note: the lock requires attention as it doesn’t hold. The overall condition as described and photographed is good – good plus. Inv. : # 12-150
