Description:
The famous Webley top-break revolver served the British Military in one form or another starting with the Mark I in 1887, with later "Marks" continuing on to 1963. It was combat-tested in numerous wars and proved itself to be a superb design that was tough, extremely reliable, and accurate. The Webley Mk.VI was introduced and formally adopted by the British Military in 1915, just in time for World War 1. The Mark VI served with great distinction in the Great War (WW1), and continued it's service thru World War 2 until 1948, despite the .380 caliber Enfield No.2 Mk1 being adopted in 1936. The Enfield firm manufactured the Webley Mk.VI revolver for only 5 years between 1922 and 1926 at the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield Lock, making Enfield-made examples much scarcer than the Webley-made revolvers. The double or single-action Mark VI revolver is chambered in the formidable smokeless powder .455 cartridge and features the famous top-break design with an automatic ejector, a stirrup-style action lock, a 6-shot cylinder, a 6" inch barrel with a removable front sight blade, and a square butt frame fitted with a lanyard loop. This 1925 dated example is absolutely beautiful and appears to be unfired. It is an all-original gun that has not been altered to fire .45 ACP like so most you will see, it is exactly like the day it left the Enfield factory. The factory original low-gloss military blue finish rates 97%, showing only some minor handling/storage marks and a touch of high-edge wear from the holster under close inspection. All of the original factory stampings are crisp and clear As you can see from the pictures provided, this is an extremely clean and attractive Mark VI. The bore in the 6" inch barrel is minty and mirror-bright. The rifling is pristine and sharp, and there is no pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections of any kind. All six of the cylinder bores are equally as pristine and perfect. The original factory black checkered plastic grips are in great shape, free from any cracks, chips, or major damage. The only deductions from both grips being considered like-new are some tiny little marks in the checkering. Both grips are perfectly fit to the gun, tight to the grip frame with no wiggle, and stamped with a "M" for "Medium" in size. This Enfield Webley Mark VI is in like-new mechanical condition, with all of the controls in perfect working order. The action is perfectly "in time" and locks up tight whether it is worked in double or single-action, or worked fast or slow. This Enfield revolver should function like it left the factory last week rather than 94 years ago! This Mark VI comes complete with an original World War 2 British canvas holster which is stamped with the maker and date of manufacture, 1943. This holster is in excellent condition with no tears or bad stains, the original stitching is fully intact and tight, and all the original brass hardware is intact and in great shape. All in all, this is one of the nicest all-original Enfield Webley Mark VI rigs we have had in many years, and would be an excellent addition to any military weapons collection and a fine investment.
