Description:
Colt Detective Special Royal Blue with the original numbered box. In 1955 just after Colt introduced the Python, Colt offered the blued special finish of the Python as a special order, they called it Royal Blue in their ads. Colt ledgers note the finish as "Python" blue" in their factory order. A high gloss deep blue finish. This is a beautiful example of this scarce variant, with the original numbered box. PM for box or additional pictures. Note it letters as a one gun shipment to Von Lengerke and Antoine (noted Chicago gun source going all the way back to the Capone era), while the letter indicates "Python" Blue, the Stocks are noted as not listed. When I got the gun it came with the pearl grips shown and they are period correct. Lettered Detective Special "Python" Blue, original box, to your FFL or C&R, $2,250 + Shipping.
