After WW2 Zastava was redoing Model 2X Mausers that were built by several other facilities as well as Zastava. They stopped redoing the M2Xs before 1948 and started production of the new M48, this one. If it looks like a 98K with a bent bolt handle it's for a good reason because that is what it is, with some very minor tweaks. This M48A appears to have been stored since manufactured until sold and imported into the US. There are no signs of it having been issued or used on a range. The wood and steel finishes appear new and if there are any marks they are very, very minor. The only blue loss is from cycling the bolt and all rifle numbers match and marks have sharp edges. The bayonet and scabbard numbers don't match but they are marked 44 and the scabbard has a Waffenampt stamp. Accesories and documents included are bagged in plastic and items subject to deterioration are treated with oil. The new owner took it from the box, cleaned the barrel and took it to the 100yd range where he put four rounds through it. One for the barrel and three for group (~1-1/2") and put it back in storage. It remains unfired from then until now. This piece and the accesories will be a good collector/shooter item at a very reasonable price.
