Description:
Georg Knaak, Berlin 9.3x62 built on a 1912 Oberndorf Commercial Mauser action with all small parts serial numbered to match the Mauser action serial number. Krupp Steel 22 1/2" half round half octagon barrel with a full length integral matted rib with integral ramp front sight. Barrel attached sling swivel. Three leaf express rear sight with the folding leaves marked 300 yards and 400 yards. Makers name inlayed in gold on the barrel. The action with border engraving and a claw mounted modern Schmidt & Bender 1.5x15 26mm scope with three heavy posts and fine crosshairs in modern see through rings by New England Custom Guns. Double set triggers and a lever release floorplate with border engraving. Stocked in straight grained European Walnut with a pancake cheekpiece, cartridge trap, Suhl type side panels, horn grip cap, and a small  schnable forend tip. Checkered only on the grip with mullered border. There is a forend barrel tie down wedge and a nifty horn grip extension that hides the rear action screw. All screws are engraved. LOP is 14 1/2" over a Silver's pad.  7lb 15oz as scoped and 6lb 15oz without.  This is a very high quality original piece in very good overall condition with modern scope and rings. The bore looks as good as the day it was cut. Original action and barrel blue at 96%. Original stock finish at 92%. Checkering is very fine and remains at 90%. The floorplate and cartridge trap appear to have been case colored and are now an even silver patina. This 9.3x62 was built not too long after its introduction in 1905 by Otto Bock, another Berlin gunmaker. A great piece to collect or shoot.
