Description:
This rare grandfather of Colt automatics in its original configuration - a pre 1911, MODEL 1900 sight safety. Only 4274 total 1900's were manufactured from Feb 1900 to May of 1902. Of these 4274 only 2900-3000 were mfg'd with the sight safety. Since many (estimated at 33%) were converted after shipment and sales, there are estimated to be 2000 with the sight safety. Only published data has 207 seen by the author, Doug Sheldon in COLT'S 38 Automatic PISTOLS and noted as shipped with the sight safety intact. This particular serial #2155 is noted on page 50. This pistol is also noted by serail number in the book by Donald Bady COLT AUTOMATIC PISTOLS on page 103. This is also a rarer 1900 sight safety in that the slide serrations were moved from the front to the rear of the slide at serial number 2000. The sight safety was phased out of production in the late 2400-3000 serial number range.
Comes with a COLT letter and M Hartley original price list pamphlet. I may also include a rare book about M. Hartley if found in my library.
