Description:
Here is a 1918 Rock Island Arsenal M1903. The rifle sustained moderate pitting on the exterior of the receiver at some point in it's life. It has been reparkerized. This rifle is in overall nice shape, has an excellent October 1918 barrel and is a great shooter. The rifling in the barrel is extremely good; there is no pitting or corrosion and the rifling is very clear and well pronounced. Muzzle and throat erosion readings are both at 2. The barrel crown is in excellent condition. The USGI black walnut stock and handguard have been sanded at some point, but there are no chips, dings or cracks in the wood. The stock does not retain any proof marks except for the Rock Island Arsenal RI stamp on the front tip of the stock. The butt plate is uncheckered. The handguard is the "high hump" variation. I did buy a correct bolt for the rifle, a straight handle nickel steel bolt, which is the bolt you see with the rifle. All parts are milled steel. Included is a reproduction RIA 1918 leather M1907 sling. The rifle is in the "high" serial number range at serial number 362685. Thanks!
