Description:
United States Historical Society Jefferson Davis 1851 Navy revolver, .36 Cal. Percussion, HAND ENGRAVED WITH PRESENTATION CASE.  This gun is a duplicate of the Colt 1851 Navy revolver presented by Sam Colt to Jefferson Davis, who went on to become the president of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War.  This is No. 215 in an edition of 1,851 guns manufactured.  Finished in blue and case coloring with plated straps and oil finished walnut stocks.  Top of the barrel is roll engraved "U.S. HISTORICAL SOCIETY RICHMOND, VIRGINIA.  The backstrap of the revolover and the yoke of the stock has an inscription to Jefferson Davis from the Inventotr Col. Sam Colt.  Features two-thirds coverage scroll engraving on the frame, barrel, cylinder, loading lever, hammer, trigger guard, and back-strap.  Equipped with lanyard in front of the trigger guard, two stock attachment screws in the frame, and the butt is cut for shoulder stock. Walnut shoulder stock is engraved and silver plated. Gun does not appear to having been fired but there are a few handling marks, mostly very minor on the grips. Stock is excellent.
