Description:
This is a beautiful 1944 production Remington Model 1903A3 rifle made for the U.S. Military for service in World War 2.  While it shows an arsenal rebuild/repair stamp of Ogden Arsenal on the stock, the rifle appears to be nearly untouched since originally leaving the factory with all the original finishes intact.  In all likelihood, it was issued to an American soldier that took good care of it and that saw little to no combat during WW2.  At the end of WW2 it was likely turned in and sent thru the U.S. Arsenal system like all the rest of the small arms, whereupon it was cleaned, inspected, and stamped with "O.G." at Ogden Arsenal and put into storage.  As you can see from the pictures, this Remington has an attractive mix of blued and parkerized finishes which is correct for this model.  The original finishes show only minor wear with no eyesores, rating 95% overall.  The small degree of visible finish wear is consistent across the rifle from the butt to the muzzle, indicating that all of the parts have been together since leaving the factory.  The bore is in superb condition, free from any pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections of any kind.  The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the bore.  We gauged the muzzle wear at "0" and the throat wear at less than "1", which means this rifle has been fired very, very little and has 99% plus of it's usable life left.  The stock is really attractive on this 1903A3 and in excellent condition overall.  It is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or damage, and shows only some very tiny handling marks visible only under close inspection.  The only real deduction we can find is that it appears to have been very lightly sanded at some point, most likely when it was at Ogden being cleaned post-WW2.  The mechanics of this Remington are perfect, and the internals are clean and free from wear.  All of the controls are in 100% working order, just like it left the factory in 1944.  The action is slick and precise, and the bolt turns into battery perfectly tight with no wiggle.  This rifle would no doubt perform just as well today as it did when it was in U.S. Military service, and comes complete with an original U.S.G.I.sling.  If you have been looking for a WW2 U.S. Model 1903A3 rifle for your collection this 1944-production Remington would be an excellent choice.  Rifles that are this clean and handsome do not come along too often these days, particularly with minty bores like this one.
