Description:
This is an E & F Horster-made bayonet that measures 14 7/8" overall, and has a 10" single-edged blade with wide, single fullers. The blade has an overall bright polish with scattered small surface scratches and minor blemishes on either side. Large Horster and “SOLINGEN" trademarks are present on the obverse. The hilt has the typical reversed quillons, eagle-head pommel, and no mounting provisions. The checkered composite grips are in good shape, and have some light-moderate wear with minor flattening of the points. The steel scabbard has retained 75-80% of the original black paint finish with the balance flaked to plum-brown underlying metal. This is a very good-fine example of a Feuerschutzpolizei dress bayonet, and would make a nice addition to any collection.
