4-Shot Ring Trigger Deringer Pistol w IVORY Grips!
Here we present an antique Remington’s Elliot Patent No. 2 New Repeating Pistol in .32 Rimfire, made circa 1868 in Ilion, New York. Manufactured from 1863 to 1888, this is a four shot, .32 caliber pistol using a cluster of stationary barrels and a revolving firing pin, similar in concept to the Sharps Pepperboxes. German silver blade front and frame notched rear sights. This pepperbox is functionally double action only, with the concealed hammer operated entirely by the motion of the ring trigger. The grip section is contoured so the butt rests on the ring finger. This repeating design was able to utilize the new rimfire ammunition like Smith & Wesson, without infringing on Smith & Wesson’s Rollin White Patent for bored through chambers on a revolver’s cylinder. They made very nice, easy to use and compact firearms for 19th century conceal and carry.
This one features antique ivory grips and looks like it was once finished with silver and gold.
The overall condition is good. The iron parts bear a bit of the original silver and gold finish. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The ivory grips are in very nice shape. The bores are dark and a bit rough. The action remains strong.
