Description:
This is a nice original all-matching Japanese Arisaka Type 99 rifle with an intact mum made by the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal in Hiroshima.  This Type 99 was certainly some soldier's pride and joy when it was brought home as a war trophy after World War 2.  It has the sought-after "airplane sights" and monopod intact, features that are often broken off and missing on most Type 99's we see these days.  The Arisaka Type 99 was Japan's main battle rifle for most of World War 2, a shorter and more powerful model than the Type 38 rifle they started the war with that was chambered in the 6.5 Japanese cartridge.  As you can see from the pictures, this rifle has an attractive combat-used look to it and shows finish wear and handling marks typical of an issued rifle.  The original blue finish is still mostly intact but has turned to a brown-blue patina with scattered areas of wear and thinning.  The sacred factory-stamped mum on the top of the chamber is fully intact and has not been defaced in any way.  The chrome-lined bore is excellent in this Type 99, with nice sharp rifling and no visible imperfections.  As mentioned earlier, this rifle is 100% matching with all-original parts including the bolt.  The original stock is fully intact and solid, but has been lightly sanded and oiled.  Both the handguard and stock are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage, showing only some very minor dents/dings you would expect to see on a battle-used rifle.  All of the stock hardware, barrel bands, and buttplate is intact and in great shape, including the original cleaning rod.  All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order, and the action is smooth and precise.  The bolt turns into battery perfectly and the trigger breaks nicely without being too heavy or gritty like many we have encountered.  If you have been looking for a nice all-matching Arisaka Type 99 for your collection with all the sought-after features, here is your chance to get one for well under $1000.
