Description:
This is a nice clean, all-U.S.G.I. example of the famous M1 Carbine fielded by the U.S. Military in World War 2, Korea, and even Vietnam to a small degree.  This particular carbine is an I.B.M.-made example manufactured in 1943, serial number 3855367.  It likely served in World War 2 and then Korea, as it has been thru a U.S. Arsenal rebuild/re-work at some point post-WW2.  As you can see from the picures, it has a great look to it and all of the metal parts still wear their original arsenal parkerizing.  The receiver is marked "AO" denoting it was made under contract by the Auto Ordnance Corporation for IBM. Around 50,000 receivers out of 346,500 total M1 Carbines made by IBM had this type of receiver, making it a scarce variation.  While the stock and many of the small parts have been swapped out or replaced during the rebuild, the receiver, and 1943 dated barrel are original I.B.M. parts. The stock and hand guard are matching Inland production in very nice condition, with a sharp stock cartouche. The trigger housing is a Type IV manufactured by Standard Products with mostly Inland internals. The blued type II bolt is also manufactured by Standard Products. The slide is a type V made by Inland.  The bore in this M1 Carbine is excellent, bright and clean and free from any pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections.  All of the controls are in perfect working order and the action is slick, closing into battery perfectly.  This is NOT a worn-out import-marked gun, it was likely sold thru the CMP in the 1960's or 70's.  We have no doubt that this IBM M1 Carbine would shoot just as well today as the day it left the factory in 1943.  If you have been looking for a nice representative example of the U.S. M1 Carbine for your collection that you can also enjoy at the range this IBM would be an excellent choice. Includes (1) Underwood contract 15 round Magazine and a WW2 type C-Tip sling.  We have additional magazines, bayonets, and other carbine accessories available separately here at our store.
