Here we present a Hopkins & Allen XL Double Action Revolver in .32 Rimfire, made in Norwich, Connecticut circa the late-19th Century. Hopkins & Allen made the XL line from 1876 to 1907. Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Company was a major manufacturer of rifles, shotguns, and inexpensive cartridge handguns between 1868 and 1915. After an initial investment of $2000, H & A began operations as a producer of firearms, machinery, tools, and hardware. After the expiration of the Rollin White Patent in 1869, they began converting their percussion revolvers to accept cartridge ammunition. In addition, they started producing a line of spur-trigger cartridge revolvers in .22 and .32 calibers. From its humble beginnings, Hopkins and Allen had grown from a small shop with 30 employees to become a major producer of firearms and an employer of 600 workers. In a state known for firearm production, H & A ranked third only behind Colt and Winchester. Hopkins & Allen continued to manufacture a variety of revolvers and small arms until 1915. Most of these were finished in nickel, so this being finished in bright case colors and blue makes this one stand out against the rest. This revolver features 5 shots of .32 rimfire, a very popular little defensive round in the 19th Century that would eventually fall out of favor to centerfire cartridges such as the .32 S&W. The holster is a Voight from Seattle in good condition with a small repair to one of the belt loops. The overall condition is fine. The case colors are vibrant. The blue finish is 98%. The markings are clear. The grips are in great shape. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
