PRE BATTLE OF LITTLE BIG HORN SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CAL. RIFLE. Early 1874 production serial number in the 13,xxx range in the middle of the 5th U.S. Infantry issues. All original with early markings and “1873” stamped breech block. 90% plus original blue and most of the stock finish on the 1880’s field replacement stock. Nice “SWP/1882” cartouche. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Very early and the 5th U.S. Infantry was heavily engaged in the Plains Indian Wars at the time.
