Description:
This is the Poultney & Trimble percussion breech loading carbine. This old gun has seen some use. A deep brown patina covers most of the gun with the balance being a grey color. It is lightly cleaned where the Poultney & Trimble markings are. Bore is very dark but rifling is visible. There is some play in the lock up mechanism. This old Civil War gun was used for a long time after the war for hunting or protection. It shows the wear. Butt stock isn’t too bad but there is a few small pieces missing on the left hand side towards the frame. A chip out on the bottom towards the lower tang on the right side. Suprisingly the toe and bottom of the stock is pretty good. The forearm has seen some use and abuse with a couple of chips out and several dings. The wood is solid though. Saddle ring is missing. This gun is very old and it looks it! A good wall hanger.
