Description:
Very clean and highly coveted "transition" style model 70 with the pre war type cloverleaf tang and the "rabbit's foot" safety. S/N 84*** with matching # bolt made in 1948. Factory drilled receiver in front and back positions on this style and caliber, having the unmatted, smooth top rear receiver bridge.
It has a standard weight 24" barrel with an excellent bore. All mechanical functions are of course spot on. Condition is quite nice at about 95% overall showing light wear and handling throughout, but no gouges, cracks or other distractions and it maintains good eye appeal. A nice rifle in a common caliber but a less common configuration.
