Description:
Here is a very unusual and collectable W & C Scott & Son Premier Quality, 16 gauge hammer side by side.  It is all original and in great condition.  Besides the above mentioned markings on the barrel, it is also marke Geo. T. Abbey on both lock plates and on the rising bite type locking mechanism.
It is my understanding Mr. Abbey patented the rising bit lock and the Purdey style thumb breakdown mechanism on this gun.
The serial number is 951 and has the London address on the rib.  The damascus barrels are nearly perfect with only the slightest of dings in a couple of places.  There is no pitting in the barrels which are 30" long.  Chokes are L = .016" and R = .009".  The rib is a raised configuration.  it is an extractor gun with 2.5" chambers.  There is no safety, double triggers and weight is 6.9 pounds.
The stock is of high grade European walnut with a metal butt plate which is intricate and extends over the top for about 1.5 inches.  There is a gold initial shield just behind the tang.  There are tear drops behing the locks.  Also it has a metal grip cap and sling swivel studs in the butt and on the barrel.  LOP is 13 1/8", drop at comb is 1 3/4" and at heel 2 3/4".  Cast off is about 1/4" or slightly more.
An excellent gun for the 1870's or 80's.

Please examine the photos as to condition.

Thanks for your consideration.
The engraving is of very nice quality.
