Description:
250-3000 caliber, matching#'s. Made in 1919, this was one of the first production batch after WW1, and one of the last 1899's before Savage dropped the "18" prefix and they became simply "99's" in 1920. 22" barrel has excellent bore and rifling, and the post-war full-style take down threads. Wood and metal finish are stunningly nice, with only the slightest scattered nicks and handling marks. The action interior is similarly clean. Nice mustard yellow magazine spool, vibrant case colors, sharp checkering, tight, solid wood, and crisp Indian head on the butt plate. Interestingly, this is the first ebony fore end tip we've seen on a 99. Very attractive and functional rifle, and could easily become the high water mark for many Savage 99 colletions. SN#2117xx CA sale OK, C&R OK.
