Description:
SCARCE CALIBER STEVENS MODEL 44 SINGLE SHOT RIFLE IN .32-40. This is an earl rifle with serial number 6XXX. Aged blue/brown barrel with good markings shows some signs very light scattered rust that was wiped off. 26” half round barrel with matching number to the receiver. Receiver is an uncleaned smooth dark patina, fine action, fine bore is a little dark with good rifling throughout and ought to scrub out better. Any roughness is very light and surface. Fine butt stock with crescent butt plate, fine forearm with shallow sliver out of the upper left side. Buckhorn rear sight is broken off and should be easy to replace, blade front sight. Nice overall aged appearance. This one came out of the Eastern Montana/North Dakota area.. Hard caliber to find.
