Receiver The receiver is machined from a solid block of special high-resistance tri-alloy steel. Nothing in it is cast or welded, lending it a wonderful quality of trim solidity and perfect proportions. The receiver is then polished to a mirror finish, entirely by hand--both to the outside and the inside. The classic Beretta side plates can be disassembled by hand by way of two robust hidden keys, facilitating inspection and maintenance of the firing mechanism. The visible internal parts, all newly designed, are superbly finished and engraved by hand. Engraving The absence of pins and screws on the surface of the receiver of the SO10 makes it the perfect surface for artistic engraving. This provides the Master Engraver an uninterrupted blank canvas on which to express his or her full creativity. Typically, SO10 engraving patterns require 200 or more hours of painstaking work by our most talented master engravers. Stock The walnut wood used to craft the stock and fore-end is carefully singled out for its grain quality, color and strength. The skill of the stock-maker and his ability with age-old tools are wisely used to create custom dimensioned stocks and fore-ends. The checkering of the wooden parts is also patiently hand executed and provides a functional anti-slip grip surface. Lastly comes polishing, by means of repeated coats of oil or wax applied by hand to enhance the grain, color and brightness of the wood. The slender and elegant fore-end is further embellished by the newly designed fore-end catch lever with hidden retaining screws.
