This is a rare opportunity, probably unissued and stored? The serial number of this example is 12610X placing date of manufacture in October / 1942. This Carbine (M1A1) one of the earliest in the Paratrooper configuration. Type two stock and forearm with RI / 3 marking on pistol grip. No Wheel , No "P" proof and no rebuild cartouches. Overall condition is excellent possibly unissued! 100% original untouched finish, perfect bore a 10 on 1 to 10 scale. Appears to be all correct with 10/42 Barrel date. Interior stock correctly marked "IO", Correct Forearm marked "IO". Museum quality example! (we do not disassemble to see if all the little parts and pieces are all correct).
